1824-1831  In a time when a kings palate was supreme. Henderson William Brand, chef to England's King George IV, creates a special sauce for the king's table. The king is so impressed with the new sauce, he proclaims it "A1".

1931  A1 Steak Sauce makes it way in to Canada, and on peoples food.
Features
  • A1 Alberta Chili
  • 1 bottle A1
  • 2 lbs. Ground Beef - LEAN
  • 1 Tbs. Harvest Canola Oil
  • 1 (16 oz) Canned Mixed Beans - Drained
  • 1 cup Onion Chopped
  • 2 (16 oz) Canned Peeled Tomatoes - Fresh is Better
  • 1/4 cup Chili Powder
  • * Brown beef, in batches, in a large oiled saucepan over medium-high heat.
  • * Add onion; cook until tender.
  • * Add tomatoes with liquid, mixed beans, A1 Steak Sauce and chili powder. Heat to a boil; reduce heat.
  • * Cover and simmer for 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 hours, stirring occasionally.
  • Serve with tea biscuits or corn bread (my preference). Serves 8 Save me a seat!
